Summary

Philinopsis gardineri was discovered by Elliot in 1903 on Heron Island. It is an Opistibranch, a group of organisms that exhibit extremely diverse morphological forms and intensive adaptive radiation in order to occupy ecosystems all over the world. Records on Philinopsis gardineri indicate that it has a very wide Indo-West Pacific distribution and spends most of its life burrowed in sand.
